Body of trekker fished out of falls
Hassan: The body of a 21-year-old engineering student from Bangalore who drowned in the Devaragundi Falls in the dense Kabbinale forest on Saturday was fished out on Monday after a 40-hour frenetic search.
Naveen Kumar, a sixth-semester student from the BMS Engineering College, was part of a 14-member group that had gone trekking into the forest, entering from Gundya gate. The forest is about 220 km from Bangalore. The autopsy was done at Sakleshpur’s Crawford Government Hospital.
It wasn’t easy scouring the dense forest, which becomes dark as early as 3pm, and where there’s no mobile network. After the boy drowned, three from the group had to trudge 13 km to call the police late Saturday evening.
